10/14/2009: "I gots a home (really!)"

So, my apartment was ready sooner than originally expected, so I got to move in today!

Mind you, that means I now have a really nice, empty floor, but its mine! I'll get to fill it up on Monday. And then try and figure out all of those little things that you need. For example, before I could do much of anything, I had to dig out the roll of toilet paper that I still had from New York (unused). Then I had to get a shower curtain. I'm gonna need a trash can here shortly... and I can actually think about putting stuff on the walls - and I don't even have to patch up nail holes when I leave, as long as I don't leave any massive holes.

And, the management had the cable already hooked up, so all I had to do was go down to the cable co's shop and pick up my converter and cable modem, and I was online! Granted, I won't have a TV until Monday, but Internet is way more important anyway. :)

Ready for pictures yet? Of course! (just ignore my piles of stuff, I haven't had a chance to get organized)

So, here's the kitchen. Doesn't seem too bad for cabinet space, linoleum (is that how its spelled?) seems a tad bubbly in spots, but I'll be ok.

Then we've got the living room. Patio doors open out onto a balcony. I'm on the second floor, overlooking the parking lot.

View from the entrance towards the kitchen. Little breakfast bar area, kinda nice. I'm def gonna have to get a bunch of rugs since the entrance is carpeted - don't want snow and slush and much getting ground into the carpet.

Another view from entranceway. The closet on the left is your basic closet, the one on the right by the kitchen is a pantry. Yes, I have a pantry. Kinda scary. Just left of the living room (not that you can really see it) is the entrance to the bedroom.

Bathroom. Very important. And you can see the aforementioned toilet paper and shower curtain.

Ummm... dressing room? Another sink, connects bathroom and bedroom, and has the main closet (on the right where you can't see).

The closet. nice and big - plenty of room to hide stuff. :)

And the bedroom. Air mattress on loan from the post loan closet.

And thus, with a mess all over the place, it is time for me to crawl into my inflatable bed. However, I will leave you with one last bit of information:

There's messy, and then there's the fact that, especially with all my other stuff arriving on Monday, I'm not sure how the heck I'm gonna find anything for the next month or so.

But hey, you guys are more than welcome to sketch up some design suggestions. :)

Amanda, I love your cute apartment! So, when can your mom and I come out and decorate? Oh alright, we'll let you have all the fun. But you have to send pictures when you are done. And yes it can be messy, it's HOME!

Well, I never sleep well my first night in a new place - getting used to the noises the fridge makes, and the level of light, and stuff.

Also, the mattress seemed to do a lot of deflating on me. And the pump I got loaned with it only works from a car outlet. I'm gonna have to mention that when I return it.

A pantry? You have a pantry? I never get a pantry? OK, I'll stop whining now. Looks like a pretty nice place to call home. Congrats! I bet your back thanks you too, even with sleeping on the inflatable mattress.
