05/22/2010: "Settling in"

Some notes from the past couple days:

So, my first flight reminded me of military pilots, with how steep the takeoff was. Rather disorienting. Next flight was a bit better takeoff, but we had a rough landing, thought a couple of times that it was about to be a combat drop. Next flight rattled excessively on takeoff, and was rather late. I would have Been late for my last flight except for the fact that it is currently lacking a plane, so I am now waiting an indeterminate amount of time for them to find a plane. Joy.

Eventually got on the plane. Grabbed taxi to post, and felt pretty lucky when I found out another guy got his bags lost.
Got into my room and got most of my stuff put up, just in time to take about a two hour nap. Woke up to find the bathroom door locked from the other side, had to call the staff duty and get them to get ahold of the person living in the other room to unlock it. Not cool.
Other than that, today has just been orientation / inprocessing.

I almost had to do some deatil today (Saturday) but got spared. So I've pretty much just been catching up on sleep.

Hehe its not usually this bad... and I don't usually have to take 4 flights to get somewhere. For example, when I head back to AK from WI, I'm only going to have to go Milwaukee to Minneapolis to Fairbanks.
