So, instead of getting to do my pt test the next day, thereby skipping out on the Commandant's run, we ended up having to do our pt test that evening. I did good on my pushups and situps, not so good on my run, but I still passed it.
Then we got to do the Commandant's run in the morning. I had cleared with my SGL (Small Group Leader - the NCO in charge of my class) to wear a Camelbak since I'm a prior heat casualty, but I still had a bunch of other SGLs asking me what was going on with that. *sigh*
And we didn't know how far we would be running. And the Commandant didn't show up until about 20 minutes after we were supposed to have started... We ended up running a bit over 5 miles, which wouldn't have been too bad for me if it had been about 20 degrees cooler... And because we were running a bit late, we didn't really have time to eat breakfast before going to class (lucky for me I had some milk and cereal in my room) so the entire class was sucking all day. And that was our first day where we had to deal with PowerPoint-style instruction. Not good.
Yesterday started off with a couple of hours of safety classes (in a nice gym with no air flow) since this weekend is the realistic start of summer, and a lot of people are going home over the 4-day weekend.
Me? I've only been here a week and I'm already sick of having to bum rides in order to even just get something to eat. So I won't be going very far.
Joy.
